Google Cloud Next

(San Francisco, California, April 9-11, 2019)

Google Next

As co-winners of Visualize 2030 – a global contest in collaboration with Google Cloud, the United Nations Foundation, Work Bank, and Global Sustainable Development Goals – DeGroote BCom students Sarah Liou and Evan Snary were invited to attend Google Cloud Next in San Francisco. Google Cloud Next is a global conference that brings together top data scientists, marketers, and executives. Sessions ranged from machine learning and AI to marketing in the Cloud and diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. Visualize 2030 attracted roughly 1,000 global entries. The challenge was to visualize and create a data-driven story that showed how at least two sustainable development goals (SDGs) influence each other, and what actions might be taken to reach those goals by 2030.

Not only did attending Google Cloud Next allow me to learn an incredible amount of information about data and emerging technologies, but it also gave me the opportunity to showcase my success and meet so many new people. A three-day conference turned into a week-long, life-changing experience.
